TEAM PROFILES
Dr Peju Adeniran
Dr. Adepeju O Adeniran has had experience that has spanned over ten years in print, television and online media. Her years in clinical practice have allowed her to demonstrate her passion for public communication and enlightenment about health, disease prevention and healthcare, as well as wellness promotion, in fora that have extended beyond the physician's chair. She has had additional experience in training at the Columbia University of New-York Medical center, and was part of the Columbia/FIRCA- LASUTH grant studying cultural implications and barriers to health -seeking behavior in Nigerians, in 2007. She was the Director of Community Mobilization for the National Cervical Cancer Prevention Programme (NCCPP) in 2008. When back home, she is a popular panelist, as well as brand consultant on many programs highlighting social issues and youth development in Nigeria.
Dr Dayo Osholowu
Dr. Dayo Osholowu, is a Sports Physician. He is the Current Clinical Director of the Special Olympics International Medfest Healthy Athletes Program in Nigeria. In 2009 he was named the 2009 Nigerian Future Awards Young Professional of the Year. A graduate of the College of Medicine University of Lagos Nigeria, Dr. Osholowu underwent additional undergraduate training in Sports Medicine at the Columbia University NewYork Center for Shoulder Elbow and Sports Medicine in 2005 and obtained certification by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Sports Medicine. He is currently a member of the FIFA Football Medicine network of Sports Physicians in Africa. Dayo has been personal physician to many Nigerian Athletes including Nigerian International Basketball professional Micheal Ani and Nigerian Tennis Pro Yinka Thompson. He currently works in a private practice where he applies the principles of exercise and nutrition to provide primary healthcare to elite athletes, weekend-warriors, people with chronic medical conditions such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes to mention a few. Dr. Osholowu is an avid endurance runner and cyclist, he completed the Law enforcement Torch run in Johannesburg South Africa in November 2008. He writes a weekly column for the BusinessDay Health Living and Business Section and is also a regular contributor to the 234Next Health section.
Dr Matilda Kerry
Dr Kerry is a resourceful Physician who studied for her degree in Medicine and Surgery at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos. She held the renowned title of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2000 and represented Nigeria in both the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants. She has a passion for the aesthetic of health, especially where good health translates to physical beauty and well-being. She is the president of the George Kerry life foundation and director of the George Kerry life National Cervical health campaign.
Dr Gbonjubola Babalola
Dr Gbonjubola Babalola has a passion for Emergency medicine, Psychiatry and Entertainment. She is a graduate of the College of Medicine ,University of Ilorin.She was a participant on the business reality TV show-The Intern and is the M.D and C.E.O of Redi-Med Services, a provider of Emergency Medical services for the entertainment Industry. Her experience in providing health services for the Reality Tv includes her work as health consultant on the Intern Reality Television show . She has also led the co-ordination of health services for the country wide tour of The Explicit Dance Group, medical services for AY live2 , childrens day celebration sponsored by Sweet Sensation and Nestle, Interhouse sports for Leaves Green school, Magodo, and a concert by Televista. She has been a featured guest on various medical shows on radio and anchored a HIV segment on a love show ‘Heartbeats’ on Unilag 103.1FM.She presently co-presents and serves as medical expert on a Live radio show –YEAH-Youth Education on AIDS and HIV on Unilag 103.1.FM Dr Gbonju is a featured health columnist for the magazine ‘9ja Times’ and the online magazine ‘ Development report’ .She delivers health talks and focused group discussions targeting especially women and children. She is currently pursuing a career in Psychiatry.
Dr. Elochukwu Onyia
With a first degree in medicine and surgery, Dr. Elochukwu Onyia is a seasoned medical researcher. He was a co-director of research for the HIV/ AIDS awareness and research team of the college of Medicine, University of Lagos, between 2002 and 2005. He is currently the director of Edge consultancy, which is involved in the provision of healthcare solutions to Nigerian health challenges and issues, as well as a founding partner of Plan B, a medical education resource company which assists Nigerian medical graduates in foreign residency placement.
